1 – What is a plane?

This section will help you recognize whether “something” is a plane (or not).Attention will be put on the external parts of the plane. Internal parts of the plane (cockpit, cabine, and internal circuitry will be discussed in another section.)

So how do you recognize a plane?
Well, it is simple, a plane has “body” called fuselage, usually two wings, one or two engines and a tail.

Here are some pictures to illustrate:

The first image is the type of plane one can usaully see.

The difference is mainly the type of engine: it is called a propeller engine instead of a jet engine.

Here you only have one engine that is not built on the wing but in the front of the fuselage.Have you noticed that there is only “one” long wing?

Here the engines are jet engine type but the are built on the fuselage of the plane.
