[Colombia 2013] 30th of March – Medellin Rio Negro Airport
The event with the children from the neighborhood of the Rio Negro Airport was organized in collaboration with ATAC, the Colombian Aviation Authority and the Rio Negro’s teams.
We had a warm welcome and a nice meeting room within the airport administration for the 40 kids. The children were really interested, but it took a while to break the ice. We were doing our best to get the kids fascinated about how a plane flies and a pilots work. Even a radio controlled plane flew in the car parking at windy conditions during the lunch break. The mea was kindly provided by the airport. A fireman joined us and presented his protection suit and his work at the airport, gaining a lot of the kid’s attention. Afterwards we got the opportunity to see the firetruck putting up a nice show for the kids by spraying water onto the next green. The kids could see the cockpit of the truck and even climb on the roof.
To close a perfect day, the airport team’s gave the kids the opportunity to have a look at the air traffic control and Rio Negro’s tower to ask the controllers any questions and see their interesting day to day work.
